From Scattered Event Planning to One Unified Platform
Finanz Informatik needed a public-facing web platform for FI Update and FI-Connect events. We built a custom CMS with drag-and-drop page builder, MMDB sync, and attendee self-service.
The Problem
Finanz Informatik organizes large-scale industry events — FI Update and FI-Connect — but had no dedicated web platform. Event content lived across spreadsheets, emails, and developer-maintained static pages.
The result: every content change required a developer, attendee data was manually transferred between systems, and there was no self-service for participants to manage their own profiles or registrations.
Marketing couldn’t update event pages without filing a dev ticket. Even simple text changes took days to go live.
Speaker details, session info, and attendee data were manually copied between systems — error-prone and time-consuming.
FI-Connect ran across multiple dates and locations. Configuring each variant required custom development every time.
Attendees had no way to manage their own profiles, check event agendas, or handle consent — all done via email chains.
What Was at Stake
Flexible CMS for Non-Technical Users
11 component types that marketing can drag and drop to build event pages. Live preview, reordering, and publish controls — all without touching code. The page builder had to be intuitive enough for non-developers while powerful enough for complex event layouts.
Bidirectional MMDB Synchronization
One-click sync pulls speaker details, session schedules, and attendee data from MMDB. Conflict handling ensures no data is lost when both systems are updated simultaneously. The sync needed to work reliably during live events with hundreds of attendees.
GDPR Compliance and Role-Based Access
Cookie consent banners, Impressum, and Datenschutz pages built into the platform. Three distinct roles — Admin, Editor, and Viewer — with granular permissions controlling who can publish, edit, or only view content.

Feature Spotlight
Visual Page Builder
11 component types including hero banners, speaker grids, schedule tables, and rich text blocks. Marketing drags components onto the page, fills in content, and publishes — all through an intuitive admin interface.
MMDB Synchronization
A single click pulls all speaker profiles, session schedules, and attendee registrations from MMDB into the platform. Smart conflict handling ensures data integrity when both systems are updated during live events.
Granular Permissions
Three distinct roles — Admin, Editor, and Viewer — each with fine-grained access controls. Admins manage users and settings, Editors handle content, and Viewers can only browse. All wrapped in GDPR-compliant cookie consent and privacy pages.

Our Approach
From mapping event workflows to a live CMS platform
Mapped the Event Workflow
Analyzed how FI’s marketing team managed event content, mapped the MMDB data model, and designed the CMS architecture with 11 component types. Defined roles and permissions to match the organization’s team structure.
