Where Independent Analysts Build Their Following

ValuationWorks is a fintech SaaS platform where independent stock analysts publish valuation models, price targets, and market insights — and investors follow the analysts and stocks they care about. We built the full platform from scratch.

The Problem

Independent stock analysts had brilliant research but nowhere to publish it. Investors hungry for alternatives to Wall Street consensus had no way to discover them.

The result: analysts stuck on fragmented platforms with no monetization tools, investors making decisions without access to the best independent research, and stock data scattered across a dozen different services.

Independent Analysts Had No Platform

Talented analysts had no dedicated space to publish their stock research. They were scattered across Twitter threads, Substack posts, and PDF attachments.

Investors Couldn’t Find Quality Research

Retail investors had to rely on Wall Street consensus or hunt for independent opinions across fragmented channels.

No Way to Monetize Expertise

Independent analysts had no simple way to charge for their models and forecasts. Building a subscription business required building a whole tech stack.

Stock Data Lived in Silos

Charts, filings, ownership data, estimates, and insider transactions each required a different tool. No unified research workspace.

What Was at Stake

Deep Financial Data Integration

Aggregating charts, ownership breakdowns, insider transactions, quarterly filings, and estimates into a unified stock page. Each data type has different sources, update frequencies, and display requirements.

Two-Sided Marketplace Architecture

Analysts and investors have fundamentally different workflows. Analysts need dashboards, publishing tools, subscription management. Investors need discovery, following, and research tools. Both sides must work seamlessly.

Monetization Without Friction

Stripe-powered subscriptions with monthly/yearly pricing, optional discounts, and gated content — while keeping the free tier valuable enough to attract users.

Our Approach

From understanding the market to a live fintech platform

Step 1 · Month 1–2

Understood the Market

Mapped analyst and investor workflows, designed the two-sided platform architecture and data model.

Step 2 · Month 3–7

Built the Platform

Built stock pages, publishing wizard, dashboards, community features, subscriptions, and analyst directory.

Step 3 · Month 8+

Launched to Analysts

Analysts onboarded and published research. Investors started following analysts and building watchlists.

We needed a platform where independent analysts could publish valuation models and price targets — and investors could follow the analysts and stocks they care about. Sonicode built the entire publishing workflow, the follow system, and a self-service platform that lets analysts focus on research instead of infrastructure.
